Chief Secretary and 5T Secretary visit Rourkela to take stock of various development works.

Bhubaneswar, 18/8: On the instructions of Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, 5T Secretary  V.K. Pandian7, National Health Mission, Odisha Director Mrs. Shalini Pandit and Special Secretary to the Chief Minister and Secretary to the Sports Department R.K. Vinila Krishna visited Rourkela today to review various development works.

The high-level delegation toured the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium under construction in Rourkela, the Biju Patnaik Indoor Stadium, the Science Park and the Planetarium with the Birsa Munda Stadium under construction for football and athletics.

It also inspects residential projects being built for the Thaithan of Rourkela slum dwellers.

After visiting various project sites, the team reviewed the situation at the airport with the Sundergarh District Magistrate, Rourkela ADM and the Metropolitan Corporation Commission and other officials.

The stadium is expected to be completed by July 2022. In addition, the construction of the Biju Patnaik Indoor Stadium is nearing completion.

In addition, many projects are underway under the Smart City.
Rourkela Airport is being expanded by the Airport Authority of India. The terminal building will also be constructed there. It will be completed by May 2022, the Chief Secretary told the media.

Construction of the Science Park and Planetarium in Chhende is expected to be completed by June next year.

During the visit, the Chief Secretary and the 5T Secretary reviewed the situation in Rourkela. “It simply came to our notice then.

The state-of-the-art infrastructure being built in the city for the development of various sports including hockey will make Smart City Rourkela one of the leading sports hubs in the country in the coming days.

Biju Patnaik Indoor Stadium is under construction to promote badminton and tennis in Panposh.

There are 3 indoor badminton courts and 3 outdoor indoor tennis courts.

A state-of-the-art gym is being set up for the fitness of the players

Birsa Munda Stadium is also being built for athletics with football games.

The Secretariat delegation also visited the two projects to monitor their progress

The government’s goal is to provide affordable housing to urban slum dwellers. About 3,000 houses will be built for the slum dwellers.
As a result, beneficiaries can monitor the quality of their homes while construction is underway.

During the visit, the Secretary-General’s delegation also visited the Science Park and Planetarium, which is located on a four-acre site in Chhende, to promote science among the students.

The function was attended by Sundergarh District Commissioner Shri Nikhil Pawan Kalyan, Rourkela Additional District Commissioner and Shri Divyajyoti Parida of the Metropolitan Corporation Commission and other senior officials.
