Kabul, 21/8: The brother of former President Ashraf Ghani, who fled the country as soon as the Taliban rule came to Afghanistan, has now betrayed the Afghans. Hashmat Ghani has reportedly joined hands with the Taliban. According to reports, Hashmat Ghani has announced his support for the terrorist group in the presence of Taliban leader Khalil-ur-Rehman and religious leader Mufti Mahmood Zakir.
Ashraf Ghani is currently in United Arab Emirates with his family. Kabul News had informed in a series of tweets on Wednesday that Ghani has settled in Abu Dhabi, UAE after escaping from Kabul. Earlier he had gone to the neighboring country Tajikistan but his plane was not allowed to land here. Ghani later defended his departure, saying he had no other choice and would “continue to contribute to development plans for the country’s future”.
Ashraf Ghani was accused of fleeing the country after handing over Kabul to the Taliban on August 15, carrying a lot of cash in four cars and a helicopter. On Monday, Russian embassy spokeswoman Nikita Ishchenko said, “The collapse of the regime… that explains how Ghani fled Afghanistan.” Four cars were full of money, they tried to put the other part of the money in the helicopter, but everything did not fit in it. And some money has also fallen down.’ However, Ghani has denied these allegations.
