Mamata to offer 50,000 rupees to each Durga Puja committee

Kolkata, 7/9: The Mamata Banerjee government of West Bengal has decided that this year every Durga Puja committee will be given fifty thousand rupees. This announcement has been made by the Chief Secretary of the state. Durga Puja is celebrated with great enthusiasm in West Bengal. Durga Puja of Bengal is famous all over the country. It is believed that the Mamta government has tried to woo people religiously on a large scale with this decision. Earlier last year also, the Mamta government had made an announcement regarding Durga Puja committees.

Last year also, Mamta Banerjee gave 50 thousand rupees as a grant to Durga Puja committees. Apart from this, 80,000 hawkers were paid a one-time grant of Rs 2000 before Durga Puja. It was believed that then the Mamta government had taken such a decision in view of the assembly elections. Now Mamta Banerjee has become the Chief Minister again after winning a massive victory in the assembly elections.
