EC freezes LJP’s election symbol

Patna, 2/10:The Central Election Commission on Saturday decided to freeze the symbol of the LJP till the “dispute” between the two factions of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) led by Chirag Paswan and Pashupati Paras is resolved. Election Commission sources had earlier said that “the decision will be taken by October 4. It will happen between Saturday and Monday.” Nomination process is going on for two assembly by-election seats of Bihar.

In fact, the election body was considering three options in this matter: 1. Freezing the party’s symbol with an interim order till a final decision is taken and allowing both factions of the party to contest the by-elections on different symbols; 2. Continuing the election symbol with the faction of LJP President Chirag Paswan; and 3. To give the party symbol of LJP to the faction of Pashupati Paras.
