This meeting lasted for about one and a half hours.
Home Minister Amit Shah called an emergency meeting to discuss the issue after the issue of power crisis and coal shortage came to light across the country. In the meeting, the officials provided information about the current situation and coal reserves in the country to the Home Minister.
The meeting comes at a time when the states of Delhi, Punjab and Chhattisgarh have warned of power shortage in the wake of severe coal shortage, but the Coal Ministry has insisted that the country needs to meet the demand of power generation plants. There is enough coal available and there is no fear of disruption in power supply.
