‘Sherni’ and ‘Sardar Udham’ nominated for Oscar 2022, hopes to win Academy Awards

Mumbai, 21/10:Bollywood has been affected the most due to Corona. Due to the lockdown, theaters were closed and then gradually the shooting and release dates of films also started going into cold storage. But in the midst of all this, good films continued to be produced in Indian cinema. This is the reason why a 15-member jury of the Film Federation of India shortlisted 14 films for India’s entry at the Academy Awards. The 15-member jury was presided over by Shaji N. Karan.

This 15-member jury will jointly choose the film that will compete for the Best Foreign Language category at the 94th Academy Awards next year. A total of 14 films are screened by the jury members in Kolkata for the final selection. The jury will look at all these 14 films and select India’s official entry for Best Film.

 

These 14 films also include Malayalam film Naitu, Tamil film Mandela, Vidya Balan’s Sherni’ in Hindi films and the recent release Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Sardar Udham Singh’. Both films were released on Amazon. The 94th Academy Awards are to be held on March 27 next year.
