Tamilnadu, 9/11: In Tamil Nadu, heavy rain continues to wreak havoc in many areas including the capital Chennai for the last two days. Four people have died in rain-related incidents in the state. At the same time, there is news of damage to about 60 houses. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that there is a possibility of heavy rain in the state for the next three days. NDRF teams are deployed in view of the severe situation of heavy rains, floods and water logging. IMD has issued an orange alert in 14 districts of the state.

Due to heavy rains in the surrounding areas including the capital Chennai, the areas have been flooded. The gates of three reservoirs – Poondi, Chembarambakkam and Puzhal – have been opened to drain the excess water in the state. The department said that a low pressure area is expected to form over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas during the next 24 hours. It is expected to reach north Tamil Nadu coast by the morning of November 11 and cause heavy rainfall in many areas of the state.
