Israel bans entry of all foreigners, takes a big decision on Omicron crisis

Israel, 28/11:Israel has banned all foreign travelers due to the new variant of Coronavirus, Omicron. It is reported that Israel has closed its borders to all people coming from abroad. On Friday itself, the first patient infected with the Omicron variant was found in the country. It was only after this that Israel banned travelers from many South African countries. The first case of Omicron was found in South Africa.

According to AFP, Israel has closed its borders to all foreigners. The BBC report quoted local media as saying that Israel was preparing to ban foreign travelers from entering the country for 14 days. It was expected that the ban could start from Sunday night. Even before this, many countries have banned travel from South Africa.

In a cabinet meeting convened on Friday to discuss the new form of the coronavirus, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said that it is more contagious and spreads faster than the delta form. He said that officials are still collecting information about whether the vaccines are ineffective and whether it is fatal.

He said, ‘We are on the threshold of emergency.’ He said, ‘I have asked everyone to be ready and gear up to work round the clock.’ All countries will be kept in the category of ‘red countries’ and there will be a ban on the travel of foreign nationals to Israel. People of Israel are also banned from traveling to these countries and those returning from there will have to stay in segregation for a fixed time.
