Tamil Nadu, 10/12: On Wednesday, 13 including the country’s first Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat were killed in a helicopter crash in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. Today the whole country is giving a final farewell to Bipin Rawat Funeral and other martyrs including his wife with their moist eyes. Meanwhile, regarding the helicopter accident, the Indian Air Force said this afternoon that its investigation will be completed very soon and the real reason for such a big accident will also be known.
Significantly, on Wednesday, General Bipin Rawat had to go to Wellington from Sulur Airbase in Tamil Nadu on 8 December. He is going to attend a program at Wellington Defense Service Staff College. The distance from Sulur to Wellington was 27 minutes but the helicopter crashed near Coonoor seven minutes before landing.
IAF said that there is only speculation about the accident that what happened after all that such a big accident happened. But very soon all the facts will come out. Shortly after the accident, a Court of Inquiry was constituted by the Air Force. It has been said from the Air Force that the investigation on this incident will be completed expeditiously.
Let us tell you that General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat will be cremated with military honors in Delhi this evening. General Bipin Rawat was at the highest rank of the army, so he would be given a 17-gun salute. Many top leaders including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also visited General Bipin Rawat’s residence in Delhi today.
