Booster dose is reducing impact of OMICRON virus

New Delhi, 11/12: The third booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine (Anti-Covid-19 Vaccine) provides 70 to 75 percent protection in cases of infection caused by the Omicron variant of the coronavirus. Britain’s Health Protection Agency (UKHSA) gave this information on Friday. The World Health Organization (WHO) has also expressed concern against new variants of the corona virus. However, experts have described vaccination, mask, social distancing and vaccination as very important in terms of safety.

Giving the latest technical information, the agency said that Oxford/AstraZeneca – under the name Covishield in India – and two doses of Pfizer/Biontech vaccines have “very low protection” in symptomatic infections compared to the delta form of the currently most widely circulated COVID-19. gives. However, it has been observed that the third dose strengthens the immunity against the new form of the virus. The study is based on Omicron’s analysis of 581 cases.

UKSHA said, ‘If the current trend does not change, by the end of this month, the number of infected people in the UK will cross one million. A booster dose is more effective in the early stages and provides protection against symptomatic infections by about 70 to 75 percent. There is uncertainty in all the assessments because they are based on preliminary studies of the nature of the virus.

Another study in Israel says that the third dose of Pfizer’s anti-Covid-19 vaccine can reduce the mortality rate from the delta form of the corona virus by up to 90 percent. The research report, published Thursday in ‘The New England Journal of Medicine’, said the study involved people aged 50 years or older who had received two doses of the Pfizer vaccine at least five months earlier.
