The team is the most expensive team in the history of T20 league. RPSG Group has bought the team for Rs 7090 crore. From the next season of T20 league (IPL 2022), 10 teams will land instead of 8. Apart from Lucknow, Ahmedabad is also associated with the league. Recently, 8 old teams have retained 27 players. There may be a mega auction in January.
Gautam Gambhir has made KKR champion twice under his captaincy. After that the team has never been able to win the title. Apart from this, he has also won 2 World Cup titles. The Lucknow franchise has appointed former Zimbabwe captain Andy Flower as the head coach. Prior to this he was the assistant coach of Punjab Kings. According to the news of Cricbuzz, team owner Sanjeev Goenka has confirmed Gambhir’s joining the team. Apart from this, former wicketkeeper Vijay Dahiya will join the team as an assistant coach. He is currently the head coach of the UP team.
