Captain Amarinder meets Amit Shah ahead of Punjab Elections

New Delhi,27/12:Punjab Lok Congress President and former CM Capt Amarinder Singh arrived at his Delhi residence to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Here there is a possibility of talks between the two leaders on seat sharing with the BJP regarding the upcoming Punjab elections. Let us tell you that there are a total of 117 seats in the Punjab Assembly. While senior leaders believe that the experience of the former Chief Minister will help in understanding the constituencies, the Captain is not in a position to bargain much. A major part of the seats in the alliance of the leaders will go to the BJP. The party is looking to expand and strengthen its organization in the state given its experience with long-time ally Shiromani Akali Dal. A senior leader said, “We will not play the role of younger brother with anyone in the state.”

Amarinder Singh had to informally step down as Punjab chief minister in September amid a power struggle with Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu. Congress then made Charanjit Singh Channi as CM instead of Amarinder. After this, the Captain left the Congress to form his own party. “There should have been many leaders who should have left the Congress with him, but it did not happen,” he said. However, some people will join BJP if they are neglected by Congress during ticket distribution.
