Bhubaneswar, 4/1Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik today directed the Chief Minister and the District Magistrates of various departments of the state to speed up the preparation of Covid through video conferencing with the Chief Ministers and District Magistrates.
The Chief Minister has directed that all government and private hospitals in the state be closed within the next 10 days. He directed that at least the maximum number of beds and ICUs needed in the second wave be maintained.
He encouraged ordinary people as well to take part in solving this great task: “One of the things you and other people can do is keep up the pressure … there are going to be some difficult decisions for government”.

The Chief Minister said that the Omkran7 variant is spreading rapidly across the country. The number of patients has doubled in a few days. Millions of Covidians are likely to be infected in the country soon. Odisha is also witnessing an increase in the number of OMICRON patient. “Therefore, we need to take immediate steps to ensure that the co-operatives are properly managed,” he said.
Revealing that it had been decided to implement some of the preparations on a wartime basis at last week’s review meeting, the Chief Minister advised the Chief Secretary to hold daily review meetings to implement them.
Senior officials were tasked with providing oxygen management, information campaigns, training modules, etc. during the last wave. The Chief Minister has again suggested that the various monitoring groups and district-level monitoring systems be restored. “As the virus is likely to spread rapidly in the country, it is imperative that all measures be taken immediately,” he said.
The Chief Minister appealed to the people to be vigilant and to abide by all the rules and regulations and to cooperate with the officials in charge.
During the meeting, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra said that all the concerned officials and district magistrates would be directed to take action as per the instructions of the Chief Minister. He said senior officials would visit the district to review the situation at the district level and take necessary steps.
Additional Chief Administrative Secretary, Department of Health, Shri R.K. Sharma gave a presentation on the state government’s preparations. He said the state of Odisha had been closely monitored and that foreigners were being screened regularly. He said the state government would soon develop a Treatment Protocol. He said the districts of the state had the required amount of medicines, beds and oxygen.

During the meeting, the district commissioners of Sundargarh, Balangir, Ganjam and Baleshwar districts, as well as the commissioners of BMC and CMC, briefed on the various steps being taken and preparations in their areas.
