Indian Cricket team penalized for slow over rate

New Delhi, 24/1: The current South Africa tour for Team India ended with a defeat. Host South Africa also won the third ODI in Cape Town. With this, the ODI series was won by 3-0. Team India had not yet recovered from the pain of defeat that the ICC gave it another blow. Team India has been fined 40 percent of the match fee for slow over rate in the third ODI against South Africa. This penalty has been imposed on the Indian team for bowling 2 overs less within the stipulated time.

According to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players, which is for the error related to the minimum over rate, if the team does not complete its quota of overs within the prescribed time, then for every oak over Players are fined 20 percent of the match fee. India had bowled 2 overs less within the stipulated time in the third ODI. Hence, 40 per cent penalty was imposed.
