The Chief Minister reviewed the progress of the Indoor Athletic Stadium and the Rs 300 crore sports infrastructure project at the Kalinga Stadium Complex.

Bhubaneswar, 21/2: Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik today visited the local Kalinga Stadium Complex and reviewed the progress of various sports infrastructure projects worth Rs 300 crore, especially the indoor indoor athletic stadium under construction. The indoor athletic stadium is the first indoor indoor athletic stadium in the country. The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress, saying that the indoor facilities for the athletes would boost the development of athletics in the country and that the stadium would play a leading role in creating an athletic champion in the coming days.

 

The stadium is being built with an investment of Rs 120 crore and is expected to be completed by 2022. It will feature national and international athletics and players will be able to continue playing throughout the year. It also has residential facilities for coaching hundreds of players.

 

Later, the Chief Minister also presented the project of the Tennis Center under construction. The Tennis Center will host national and international competitions, such as the ITF Tournament and the Davis Cup.

 

All of these sports projects are being built under the state sports infrastructure development program in five programs of the state government. “It simply came to our notice then. Currently, the Kalinga Stadium Complex is under construction with various indoor athletic stadiums and tennis centers, including the Indoor Aquatics Stadium, the Hockey HPC Building, and various housing projects for the staff.

 

The Chief Minister then watched the matches of the Odisha Women’s Football League being held at the Kalinga Stadium’s main football stadium and promised to provide all possible facilities to the players in consultation.

 

Later, the Chief Minister met both men and women players of the Indian National Hockey Team and inquired about their stay and playing habits. They thanked the Chief Minister for his support in hockey. The Chief Minister congratulated them on the upcoming Pro-League 4 match and advised them to aim for a gold medal for the country at the upcoming Asian and Commonwealth Games.

 

The Chief Minister’s Secretary (5T) Shri V.K. Pandian and Sports Secretary Mr. Vinil Krishna were present.
