All-rounder Jadeja stars as India defeats Sri Lanka by an Innings and 222runs

Ahmedabad, 6/3: The Test captaincy era of star opener Rohit Sharma has also started victoriously. Under the captaincy of Rohit, the Indian team defeated Sri Lanka by an innings and 222 runs in the first Test match (IND vs SL 1st Test) on the third day itself. Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja did an amazing job. After scoring an unbeaten 175, he also showed a great game with the ball and took 9 wickets in total.

 

In this first match of the series played at IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, the Indian team declared the first innings by scoring 574 runs for 8 wickets. After this, the first innings of the Sri Lankan team was reduced to just 174 runs and it was forced to follow-on. The visiting team’s batsmen could not do anything special in the second innings as well and the team was all out after scoring 178 runs.

 

 

Sri Lanka’s wicket-keeper batsman Niroshan Dickwella scored a half-century in the second innings and returned unbeaten on 51. He hit 9 fours in his unbeaten innings of 81 balls. Ravindra Jadeja took 4 for 46 in the second innings while off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took 4 for 47. Apart from him, pacer Mohammed Shami took 2 wickets in his name.

 

Rohit Sharma started with a win in Test captaincy after ODI and T20. Rohit Sharma has been given this responsibility after Virat Kohli stepped down from Test captaincy. Under his leadership, the Indian team came out to play the first Test series and Sri Lanka had to face defeat on the third day.

 

Ravindra Jadeja gave a strong performance. He showed amazing with the bat and then took a total of 9 wickets while performing brilliantly in the bowling as well. He took 5 wickets in the first innings and 4 wickets in the second innings. The Indian team bundled out Sri Lanka for 174 runs on the third day, giving them a 400-run lead in the first innings.
