Mahagiri Mines wins National Safety Awards (Mines) under the category of ‘Longest Accident Free Period’

Bhubaneswar, 8/3: For enhancing safety consciousness and to improve work place environment in the hazardous operations of underground mines – the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) is the nodal government organisation. They not only monitor (and penalise) the effectiveness of safety measures undertaken by Mines Management, but also motivate the mining fraternity by instituting awards for safety performance of individual mines. The prestigious Presidential award named as National Safety Awards (Mines) under the category of ‘Longest Accident Free Period’ for two consecutive years (2017, 2018) is awarded to Mahagiri Mines (Chromite) of M/s Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys Ltd. The Executive in-charge of Mines of M/s IMFA Mr. Sudhanshu Patni along with Mr. Gautam Choudhary (Sr. Electrician) and Mr. Ramakanta Naik (Mining Mate) received these awards in a ceremony organised at Vigyan Bhawan at New Delhi on 8th March 2022. The awards were conferred by the Union Minister of Labour and Employment Mr. Bhupendra Yadav in presence of State Minister for Labour and Employment Mr. Rameswar Teli, Director General of Mines Safety Mr. Prabhat Kumar and others.
