IB Thermal : OPGC celebrated 51st Environment Day on 5th of June 2023 with the theme “Solutions to Plastic Pollution” with the focus on sustainable living and development. To create awareness on protection of environment, a week-long programme, which started on 29th May, was conducted which included Drawing Competition for school children, Awareness Session for employees, Group Environment Quiz Programme for employees, Group Environment Quiz Programme for contractor partners, Slogan Competition & Elocution Competition for employees etc.
On the closing day today, mass plantation programme was organized at 9.00AM where Director Operation Sri. Manas Ranjan Rout initiated the programme in presence of Sr. VP O&M Sri Sukanta Mohapatra, Plant Heads, HODs, Team leaders and other employees. A closing session was held in the evening chaired by Director Operations where the winners of various events held during the week-long programme were felicitated. In the closing session an oath was also taken to protect & nurture Environment by making it plastic free. Director Sri Rout spoke on the significance of the day and urged all to come forward with special initiatives to beat plastic pollution. He also stressed to ensure that no functions in OPGC to campus to be held using single use plastic items. Partha Sarathi Panda, Manager Environment conducted the whole week long event with valuable input from members of OPGC Environment team.
