Malkangiri AO correspondent:-03/05 The Brijesh Agarwal Company is working on 5 high level bridges being constructed on the national highway in Malkangiri district to provide safety during floods, but the construction deadline has expired. It has been reported that this company has been suspended due to excessive delay in the construction work. As a result, all the bridge work has come to a standstill. Traffic will again be hampered during the monsoon season. It is worth noting that the Brijesh Agarwal Company of Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh state had invited tenders for the construction of 5 high level bridges including Pangam, Poteru, Kangurkonda, MV-90 and MV-96 on 1.7.2022 at an estimated cost of Rs 79 crore. This company had got the tender for the construction of five bridges and signed the contract for the completion of the work on 1.7.2024. So far, the company has completed only 30 percent of the work and despite repeated reminders, the work has not been expedited. Now, after the summer, the rainy season has arrived. Like every year, during the rainy season, various rivers flood and create obstacles in traffic. Due to the low height of the adjacent bridges, the flood water level rises and crosses the danger mark, causing traffic to be disrupted. In view of this, tenders were invited for the construction of 5 high-level bridges on the National Highway, i.e. the National Highway from Govindpalli to Motu. Now, due to undue delay in the construction of these bridges, Brijesh Agarwal Company has been dismissed on 22.4.2025. Also, the National Highways Department has informed that a new tender will be called for the construction of these five high-level bridges very soon.
