Bhubaneswar, May 5: Researchers and practitioners in the field of Artificial Intelligence
and Cloud Computing converged at the SOA Deemed to be University here to confabulate on
the subject at the 3 rd Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) International
Conference on Intelligent and Cloud Computing organised by the university’s Center for Cyber
Security on May 2 and 3.
The conference was technically co-sponsored by IEEE Bhubaneswar Sub-section and
IEEE Kolkata Section. The deliberations, held in hybrid mode, centred around innovations in AI
and Cloud Computing, especially in the context of Industry 4.0.
As cloud and edge computing evolved alongside Internet of Things (IoT) and 5G, the
conference offered a platform to address challenges in efficiency, privacy, security and
intelligent system design. The conference featured four technical tracks—Intelligent
Computing and Big Data Applications, Networking, IoT and 5G Communications, Cloud and
Edge Computing and Security, Privacy and Blockchain.
Out of 700 global submissions, 140 high quality papers had been accepted for
presentation and publication in IEEE Xplore. A special poster session, hosted by the IEEE
Computer Society Chapter (Bhubaneswar Section) highlighted emerging research by students
and scholars.
The chief guest for the inaugural program was Prof. Sanjay Madria, Curators’
Distinguished Professor at Missouri University of Science and Technology, USA who spoke
about the need for cyber security to combat digital crimes. The Indian students have been
performing well in the field of AI and Cloud Computing, he said adding they should focus
more on research.
Addressing the session, Mr. Harekrushna Rath, former Director of the Integrated Test
Range (DRDO), said the event was greatly beneficial for computer science professionals as
there were around 20,000 computer science students and 500 faculties in Bhubaneswar. IEEE
was conducting the program for the furtherance of technical education in Odisha, he said.
Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, Vice-Chancellor of SOA, who presided over the program,
said the university’s Centre for Cyber Security had been working on several aspects of cyber
security.
The inaugural session was also addressed by Prof. Pradip Kumar Sahu, Dean of Institute
of Technical Education and Research, SOA’s faculty of engineering and technology, Prof.
Debahuti Mishra, General Chair and Head of the Department of Computer Science
Engineering and Dr. Dibyasundar Das, Program Co-chair. A photo exhibition on cyber security
titled ‘Scholars’ Spectrum: A Canvas of Innovation’ was also inaugurated on the occasion.
The valedictory program was addressed by Prof. P.K. Patra, SOA’s Dean (SRIC), who
attended as the chief guest, Prof. P.K. Sahu, Dean, ITER and Prof. Debahuti Mishra.
