Chandipur: At least three gas cylinders exploded in Balasore district of Odisha on Sunday night. The cylinders had been kept illegally in the shop of a Home Guard in the Naupa Gadi village under Chandipur Police Station limits in the district. As per reports, 3 cylinders exploded in the shop of a home guard, who had allegedly hoarded these cylinders illegally. Following the explosion the locals informed about this to the Fire Brigade. After getting information, the fire fighters rushed to the spot and doused the flames. The loss due to the fire mishap is yet to be ascertained. While it was earlier reported that 3 cylinders blasted, as per the latest reports it has been known that more than 9 gas cylinders exploded at once. The incident took place today morning in Naupalgadi under Balaramgadi Police Station limits in Balasore district. The house where the gas cylinders had been kept was completely damaged and collapsed due to the blast. From the visuals it seems like a big explosion. As per reports 60 gas cylinders had been illegally kept in the shop. More than 9 of them exploded today morning. The fire brigade has doused the fire. The owner of the shop where the illegal cylinders were stored has been identified as SK Hafiz, posted as a Home Guard in Balasore Police.
