Bhubaneswar: Odisha is boiling under a severe heatwave for the last few days. Even early morning today Bhubaneswar recorded 32.8 degrees Celsius. The heatwave has been relentless, with the scorching sun making life unbearable since morning. The humidity has added to the discomfort, making it feel like the state is being fried in a hot cauldron. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow warning for 18 districts, predicting the arrival of Kalbaisakhi rain. The temperature in northern interior Odisha is expected to decrease by about 4-5 degrees Celsius, while in many places in southern interior Odisha and one or two places in northern interior Odisha, it has decreased by about 2-3 degrees Celsius. This condition will prevail until the 18th of May. MeT has informed that there will be no change in the daily temperature for a week after the rain’s effect subsides. The Kalbaisakhi rain is expected to bring some respite to the people of Odisha, who have been struggling with the severe heatwave. With the rain on its way, people of Odisha can finally look forward to a brief reprieve from the sweltering heat.
