Student Union Elections in Odisha before Dussehra! HE Minister hints

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Higher Education Minister Suraj Suryavanshi on Wednesday hinted about students’ union election in colleges and universities of the State.While these polls have been stopped for the last 8 years, after the Minister’s green signal it seems this year colleges and universities in Odisha may have elections to choose their representatives. As per reports, Higher Education Minister Suraj Suryavanshi has given a green signal regarding when the college elections will be held. The minister reportedly informed that the campus elections will be completed before Dussehra. The government is thinking about the Student Union elections this year. He said that the Chief Minister has already given nod for the same. The higher education department is also interested for this. The courses will have to be completed before Durga Puja for the elections, reportedly said the Minister. Campus elections were closed since the time of the previous government due to various reasons. First, there was indiscipline in the campus. Then the campus elections were closed due to the Corona scare due to which dissatisfaction was seen. During the earlier government BJP had demanded for student elections. Also, the students were demanding campus elections. Now that the BJP has come to power, and after the green signal from the Higher Education Minister, there is growing hope for the student Union elections to be held.
