Bengaluru, 22/5: The state cabinet has decided that the Ramanagara district will be renamed as Bengaluru South from Thursday.
Speaking to reporters during the customary post-cabinet briefing, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, who is also the Bengaluru development minister, said: “The Ramanagara district will be renamed as Bengaluru South but the headquarters will remain in Ramanagara itself.” Shivakumar said the Cabinet had discussed the legal implications of the decision, adding that there would be no financial implicatioon.
