Burla/Bargarh, May 22, 2025: TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL) expresses
deep sorrow over the tragic demise of Sri Meghanada Bhoi, a Business Associate (BA) Helper
engaged through M/s S.R. Electricals & Construction under the Titilagarh Electrical Division (TED)
in Bolangir district.
As per preliminary information received, Sri Bhoi completed his official duties on Dt. 21.05.2025
and left section office of TPWODL at Belgaon around 5:00 PM. After he reached his village
Jubamal, it has come to our information that he was involved in an unauthorized activity related to
power supply reconnection, allegedly at the request of local villager. Tragically, during the course of
this unauthorized act, Sri Bhoi fell down from the pole and he tragically passed away.
We hereby wish to clarify that; the unauthorized activity for reconnection of power to a consumer
whose supply had been officially disconnected since 13th September 2024. This activity was
undertaken without any prior intimation or approval from the designated Lineman, Supervisor, or
Section Officer of TPWODL. Under any circumstances no helpers are allow to clime on the poles.
However, TPWODL emphasizes that any unauthorized handling of electrical systems is strictly
prohibited and poses grave safety risks. Only trained and authorized personnel are permitted to
undertake operations on electrical infrastructure. Unauthorized actions not only endanger lives but
also violate safety protocols and operational discipline.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family of Late Sri Meghanada Bhoi during this time of
grief. TPWODL has reported the incident to the nearest police authorities for further investigation.
We urge all consumers and public at large to avoid engaging in or encouraging any one for
unauthorized electrical activities under any circumstances. TPWODL remains committed to ensuring
the safety of its workforce and the public at large.
