CM Mohan Majhi expresses grief on Forester’s death in Odisha, grants ex-gratia of Rs. 30 lakh

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed deep grief on Saturday over the Forester’s death in Odisha. He has also granted an ex-gratia compensation to the next of kin. According to reports, the forester identified as Prahlad Pradhan was on patrol in the Rajmohanpur forest of Hindola Range of Dhenkanal district when the unfortunate incident took place. The CM has expressed his condolences to his family of the deceased Forester and announced a compensation of Rs. 30 lakhs. He has also directed the PCCF (Principal Chief Conservator of Forests) to go to the spot and conduct further investigation. In a tragic incident, a forester in-charge was killed as a poacher shot at him. The forester has been identified as Prahlad of Hindol area in Dhenkanal district of Odisha. According to reports, the forester was initially critically injured in a poacher’s gunshot. He and his team had gone to catch the poacher and was shot. He was admitted to Angul Medical College. According to information available, the Forest Department received information about the presence of poachers near Rajmohanpur area in  Hindol police station late last night. Later the Forester and his staff were surrounded by the poachers. At this time, the poachers suddenly opened fire. In this, in-charge forester Prahlad became critically injured. He was admitted to Angul Medical College where he breathed his last. An investigation has been initiated in this regard.
