Actor Kamal Haasan will enter Rajya Sabha, DMK gave one seat in the election

Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan may enter the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of Parliament. In fact, the ruling party DMK in Tamil Nadu has revealed on Wednesday that it will contest on 4 seats in the biennial elections of the Rajya Sabha. The party has said that it has given one seat to Kamal Haasan’s party Makkal Nidhi Mayyam (MNM). Let us tell you that the biennial elections for the Rajya Sabha are going to be held on June 19. DMK has also announced the names of 3 candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections. The party has re-nominated senior advocate P Wilson. Apart from this, two other DMK candidates will be party leader SR Sivalingam from Salem and poet, writer and party functionary Rukaiya Malik alias Kaviganar Salma. Let us tell you that 6 Rajya Sabha MPs from Tamil Nadu will retire on 24 July 2025. The retiring leaders also include PMK’s Anbumani Ramadoss and MDMK top leader Vaiko. DMK party chief and Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin has said that as per the agreement reached before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Kamal Haasan’s party has been given one seat in the biennial Rajya Sabha elections. With the help of its and its allies’ numbers in the Assembly, the DMK can win 4 out of 6 seats in the biennial Rajya Sabha elections. At the same time, opposition party AIADMK can win two seats with the help of BJP and other allies. Kamal Haasan’s party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) has also hinted that the actor may go to the Rajya Sabha. Party leader Murali Appas said – “We have passed a resolution to elect Kamal Haasan as a Rajya Sabha member from the Makkal Needhi Maiam party.”
