New Delhi: BJP and Aam Aadmi Party candidates have filed their nomination on Wednesday, the last day of nomination, for the election to be held for a member of the Standing Committee of Delhi Municipal Corporation. Congress and Indraprastha Vikas Party have not fielded their candidates in this election।
Bharatiya Janata Party has made senior Municipal Councilor Satya Sharma its candidate. Satya Sharma has filed his nomination in the Municipal Secretary’s office located at the Delhi Municipal Corporation headquarters. Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh, Deputy Mayor Jai Bhagwan Yadav, Leader of the House Pravesh Vahi, Municipal Councilor Pankaj Luthra and Municipal Councilor Puneet Sharma were present on this occasion. On the other hand, Municipal Councilor Hema Vohra has been made the candidate from Ward No. 184 by Aam Aadmi Party. Hema Vohra has also filed her nomination in the Municipal Secretary’s office. Former Mayor Mahesh Kumar and many Aam Aadmi Party councilors were present on this occasion.
Regarding Hema Vohra’s nomination, Leader of Opposition Ankush Narang said that Hema Vohra has filed her nomination for the post of committee member from the Municipal House in the Municipal Secretary’s office located at the Delhi Municipal Corporation Civic Center Headquarters. This is an important step towards strengthening our democratic structure. He said that I congratulate Hema Vohra for this important responsibility. Let us tell you that after Kamaljeet Sehrawat, who was a member of the Standing Committee, became an MP, the post of one of the 6 members to be elected from the Municipal House became vacant. Meanwhile, there was a change in the power of the corporation. BJP candidates won the Mayor and Deputy Mayor elections।
Now the election for one vacant seat of the Standing Committee is to be held on June 3. At present, the figures are in favor of the BJP. Indraprastha Vikas Party, formed by breaking the Aam Aadmi Party, is also supporting the BJP. In such a situation, the victory of BJP candidate Satya Sharma is considered certain.
If sources are to be believed, Satya Sharma will also be made the candidate for the post of Chairman of the Standing Committee from the BJP. Even in the standing committee, the numbers are in favour of BJP, so there is every possibility of Satya Sharma becoming the president.
