Separate accidents in Gajapati: 4 dead, 36 injured

Parlakhemundi, 28/5 (Correspondent): Separate accidents in Mohana and Gosani blocks of Gajapati district: 4 dead, 36 injured. A mini truck met with an accident near Mahigudi under Mohana block. One person died and three were injured in the accident. The deceased was the driver of the vehicle, Kiran Mohanty of Pudamari village. The three injured were Badal Nayak of Podamari village, Purat Mallika and Sribesha Malik of Rajnapalli village. According to information, yesterday afternoon, while the clerk was coming from Berhampur to Mohana with goods, the brakes of the vehicle failed near Mahigudi. As a result, the vehicle lost control and overturned on National Highway 326. The driver was crushed under the vehicle at the scene of the incident, while three people were injured. Similarly, while returning from a feast, a peaked van overturned due to loss of balance. One passenger died, over 27 passengers were injured. All the passengers were returning from Adwa police station Gubel village to Dengili village after dropping their daughter off after a feast when the accident occurred at the Kaharigaon Ghati. The deceased was 22-year-old Samant Majhi of Gubel village. All the injured have been admitted to Birikot Medical College and are undergoing treatment. On the other hand, a biker died in a pickup truck collision near Dengma village. Such a sad incident has been witnessed near Dengma village under Adwa police station. Both Vinod Gamang and Jisay were on their way to their village Badaku when a Max pickup truck hit them from the opposite direction. The locals rescued the two bikers and admitted them to Chandragiri Medical College for primary treatment. However, the doctor informed that Vinod died during treatment, while Jisay’s condition was critical and Dr. N. Jay Prakash said that he had shifted him to the hospital. Chandragiri Fandi police reached the spot and seized the body and further investigation is underway. Similarly, today, a woman died and five people were seriously injured when an auto overturned at the Arcling Ghati under Garabhanda police station in Gosani block of Gajapati district. 14 people from Maringi village under Gosani block were returning to Lumurasingh village near Kainpur in Raigarh block to attend a wedding party. On the way back, the auto lost control at Arsingi Ghati due to the overloading of the passengers and overturned. All the occupants of the auto were injured. The injured were taken to Garabanda Primary Health Center by locals in another auto. There, Sujata Shabar (26) was declared dead by the doctor. Five seriously injured people have been shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Paralakhemundi. They are Nagma Shabar (25), Enkama Shabar (40), Laxmi Shabar (25) of Maringi village, Rama Shabar (42) and Gurubari Shabar (36) of Kanchrada village. Out of the 15 people in the auto that met with the accident, 13 were women, including the driver. It is learnt that the auto driver Chiranjabilu Shabar of Badamaringi village fled after the accident. On receiving the information, Garabhand Police Station Officer Prashant Kumar Nisika reached the spot and conducted an investigation. The body of the deceased Sujatha was sent to the District Headquarters Hospital in Paralakhemundi for post-mortem. A case has been registered at Garabhanda police station and investigation is on, said Police Station Officer Shri Nisika.
