A civil defence mock drill is set to be conducted in four states bordering Pakistan on Thursday evening. The mock drill is scheduled to be conducted in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir. This comes weeks after India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ against Pakistan on the intervening night of May 6 and 7, to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 tourists were killed on April 22. The mock drill would showcase preparedness against potential terrorist threats and would aim at evaluating response strategies in the event of a hostage crisis and terror attack. During the previous mock drills across different states of the country, Anti Terror Squads and commandos armed with ultra-modern weapons simulated a real-life terrorist attack. In its military response in the form of ‘Operation Sindoor’, Indian forces struck terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, eliminating over 100 terrorists linked to groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
