Malkangiri AO correspondent:- 30/05: Most of the specialist doctors are being sent to Kalimela community Health Center in Malkangiri district.
Thousands of patients from 23 panchayats of the block are relying on this community health center. Starting from emergency patient care to delivery of women, they rely on this health center. However, there is a lack of modern equipment required for health examination here. In addition, there are only 30 beds in the medical center. Therefore, due to lack of beds, patients are often seen being treated lying on the floor. Another important thing is that more than 100 children are born in this health center every month. There is not a single pediatrician or medicine specialist for the health examination of the said children. While there is only one gynecologist for the treatment of pregnant and postpartum women, most of the specialist doctors are being sent to the medical center. On the one hand, the government has prepared various schemes to prevent the deaths of newborns and mothers. But there are neither doctors nor necessary equipment to prevent this death. How to manage the zero casuality or death rate when there are not many facilities in the health center is now raising questions. There has been a shortage of specialists in this health center for many years. The public is dissatisfied because the health department is not taking any steps towards the appointment of specialists. Kalimela block is a tribal-dominated area, and patients in remote areas are facing death due to the lack of quality health care. It has been expressed by the wise and the public that at least one pediatrician in the community health center and improvements in the management system are urgently needed. When asked about this, the district health officer said that they would discuss the problem with the health center officials and resolve it.
