Tiranga Cycling Rally Held in Bhubaneswar to Honour the Indian Armed Forces:

Bhubaneswar, 01 June 2025 – To pay tribute to the Indian Armed Forces and celebrate World
Bicycle Day, "Tiranga Cycling Rally" was held today in Bhubaneswar on the occasion of 25th
week (Silver Jubilee Week) of "Sundays on Cycle". The event was jointly organized by the
Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Department of Sports & Youth Services (DSYS),
Government of Odisha. The event was started 25 weeks back inaugurated by the Hon’ble
Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour Employment, Sh. Mansukh Mandaviya and since
then till last week the event was organized in India in more than 5500 places participated by
more than 3 lakh participants. The event has also received recognition from the Hon’ble Prime
Minister of India during the “117 th episode of Mann ki Baat” underlining the significance in
promoting health & wellness and to his clarion call to fight obesity & lifestyle-related health
challenges, cycling is being promoted through various groups and institutions around the nation.
Today’s Tiranga Bicycle Rally was flagged off by the Director of DSYS, Govt of Odisha Sh
Deepankar Mohapatra in presence of the DSYS Additional Secretary Sh. Ashok Kumar Panda,
My Bharat State Director Sh. Shivaji Kharat, Odisha Incharge of Sports Authority of India Sh.
Trailokyanath Sahoo, CRPF Commandant Sh. Anand Jha, & Deputy Commandant Sh. Nagesh
Kumar, NSS Assistant Director Sh. Ajit Khuswaha, Odisha Cycling Association Secretary Sh.
Prasanna Kumar Rout and other officers of State Govt and Central Govt. The rally saw
participation of more than 250 cyclists from CRPF, NSS, My Bharat, Odisha Cycling
Association, KIIT & KISS University and SAI covering a 12-km route from Kalinga Stadium to
KIIT & KISS University's Velodrome. The event promoted fitness, sustainability, and
patriotism.
The rally highlighted the importance of cycling as a healthy lifestyle choice and honoured the
bravery of India’s Armed Forces.
