Meeting to be held in Subarnapur district for special awareness campaign against illicit liquor, drugs and narcotics

As per the directives of the Excise Department of the Government of Odisha, a special awareness campaign will be conducted at the district level against illicit liquor, tobacco and other narcotics. While this campaign will be held as a joint initiative of the Excise Department and the District Administration, a discussion meeting with the District Officers has been held under the chairmanship of the Collector Mrs. Anya Das at the Sonepur Block Confrence Hall to make the campaign successful. The campaign has been divided into four phases. The first phase of the campaign is an awareness program on World No Tobacco Day and International Drug Abuse Day from 31st May to 26th June. The second phase is an awareness campaign against cannabis ( Ganja )plants from 26th to 31st August. The third phase is an anti-drug program on 2nd October: Gandhi Jayanti Day. Similarly, the fourth phase is a special awareness program on 31st December, the eve of New Year. This campaign will be held in all the village panchayats and urban areas of the district. Various departments of the district have been given responsibility. Culture Department: Spreading the message through Pala, Dasakthia and Shobha Yatra. The Information &Public Relations Department will spread the message through mobile vans and local media. The Zilla Parishad Subarnapur will select liquor-free panchayats by involving all the village panchayat and panchayat samiti workers, in which local self-help women have also been emphasized on being involved in the campaign. The program will be organized through the De-Addiction Center in collaboration with the Social Security Department. The Health Department will organize health camps, workshops and conferences. While preparations are being made for the tree plantation program through the District Forest Department, the Sports Department will organize a run and yoga camp on the theme “Our Concept: Life is not Addiction”. The Education Department will organize an anti-drug essay and speech competition for male and female students. The DSWO has taken up the anti-drug awareness program in collaboration with SHGs. For the successful implementation of the campaign, the District Excise Officer has been given the responsibility of nodal officer. He has been advised to work in coordination with all the departments. The meeting was attended by Supdt. Of Police Narayan Nayak, Additional District Magistrate Rajendra Majhi, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Aswini Meher and other senior officers.
