Tulsi to be planted in road dividers, traffic intersections

Bhubaneswar: Tulsi trees will now be planted in dividers in roads of the capital city of Odisha. Odisha government has reportedly decided to plant basil at dividers of the road in Bhubaneswar. In this regard, Odisha Housing and Urban Development Minister Krishna Chandra Mohapatra has reportedly instructed municipal authorities to make necessary arrangements. The minister has also suggested widespread participation in this campaign on the 20th of June. The aim of this initiative is to increase the oxygen level in the city atmosphere to provide abundant oxygen to the people. Since Tulsi plant emits abundant oxygen, which is very beneficial for the health of the people, the government has taken this decision. Tulsi also has much spiritual importance. It is related to our religious sentiments. The amount of oxygen in the atmosphere is decreasing day by day. Therefore, planting basil plants in the city’s road dividers will help increase the amount of oxygen in the air, the Minister said. Moreover, people waiting at traffic points will also get abundant oxygen due to Tulsi. Since people need to stand for long at traffic intersections in case of traffic congestion, this has been kept in focus. On the occasion of the first anniversary of the BJP led Odisha state government, it has been advised to plant Tulsi trees along with all other trees. On this day, hundreds of trees will be planted simultaneously in many places in the urban areas. In the ‘A Tree for Mother’ campaign, it has been asked to plant Tulsi trees in every home, office and institution on that day.
