WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY” JSW Steel, Odisha calls for turning the tide on plastic pollution.

Barbil:(Correspondent) :- JSW Steel’s Odisha mining division commemorated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm and festivity, hosting celebrations across all its mine locations and offices on Thursday.
With the theme “One Nation, One Mission: End Plastic Pollution,” this year’s World Environment Day commemoration at the Barbil office featured a dedicated awareness program on reducing plastic waste and fostering sustainable practices.
The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries from JSW Steel’s Odisha mining division, including Business Head Shri Prasanna Panda, Mines Operation Head Shri Ram Shankar Sharma, HR Head Shri Chittaranjan Bahinipati, Finance Head Shri Ankur Dokania, as well as senior representatives from the Environment, Health & Safety Department, Shri Vijay Kumar and Shri Suresh Mohapatra, along with their team.
On this occasion, Business Head Shri Prasanna Panda delivered a thoughtful address, emphasizing the urgent need for collective action in combating plastic pollution and advocating for sustainable environmental practices.
World Environment Day was further commemorated with a mass plantation drive at JSW Steel’s mining locations in Nuagaon, Narayanposhi, and Gonua, underscoring the company’s dedication to ecological sustainability. The event also featured a sapling distribution initiative, reinforcing JSW Steel’s commitment to environmental stewardship. Additionally, winners of various competitions centered on the theme “Ending Plastic Pollution” were honored for their contributions and awareness efforts.
Furthermore, the JSW Foundation demonstrated its dedication to environmental sustainability and community welfare by formally donating an electric garbage collection vehicle to the Koida block administration. The initiative aims to enhance waste management efficiency in the region. The event was attended by Block Development Officer Smt. Rashmi Rekha Patra, Koida Block Chairman Shri Suresh Naik, and members of the CSR team, including Manager Shri Partha Behura and AGM Shri Sabal Kumar Jha.
Additionally, the foundation organized a plantation drive near the Balaguda cemetery in Bolani, further reinforcing its commitment to ecological conservation.
