Rayagada, The Rayagada Forest Division, under the leadership of the Odisha Forest Department, celebrated the 52nd World Environment Day on June 5, 2025. The event was held at the Forest Range Office in Rayagada and was attended by dignitaries, forest officials, local villagers, and students from Gumma School.
The chief guest, Shri Satya Narayan Shadangi, District Judge, Rayagada, emphasized the importance of environmental conservation and the role of individuals in protecting the environment. Other dignitaries present included Shri Subrata Acharya, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Rayagada, Shri Santosh Kumar Dhalasamanta, Excise Superintendent, Rayagada, and forest officials.
The event featured discussions on environmental conservation, waste management, and the impact of climate change. The participants, including Gumma School staff and students, also took a pledge to contribute to environmental conservation efforts.
As part of the celebrations, a tree plantation drive was organized in the Tal Gumma area, where over 50 hectares of land will be planted with trees in 2025-26. The chief guest, Shri Satya Narayan Shadangi, planted an Amla tree, while other dignitaries planted various other species of trees. The students and staff of Gumma School actively participated in the tree plantation drive, showcasing their commitment to environmental conservation.
The event was well-organized under the guidance of Shri Kameshwar Achari, Range Officer, Rayagada Forest Division. The celebration aimed to raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation and the need for collective action to protect the environment.
