Malkangiri 09/06: IED blast in Konta of Sukma district, Chhattisgarh boarder to Malkangiri. Additional SP Akash Rao Girpunje was martyred when an IED containing the remains of a Naxal exploded. Konta Police Station In-charge (TI) and SDPO were also injured. The incident took place during a patrolling operation by security personnel. After the martyrdom of Akash Rao Girpunje, a shadow of mourning has spread across the entire police department. Now search operations are going on in the area in earnest.
A police team went out on patrol in the Erabora forest area of Konta in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. Additional SP Akash Rao Girpunje, Konta Police Station In-charge and SDPO also participated in this patrolling. While patrolling, an IED planted by Maoists in Konta area suddenly exploded. In which Additional SP Akash Rao Girpunje was seriously injured. Similarly, another jawan and an officer were injured in this. All were rescued and admitted to the hospital. It is reported that Additional SP Akash Rao Girpunje died while undergoing treatment there. After this incident, the security forces have intensified the search operation in the local area.
