Gunupur:(Correspondent) :-GIET University, Gunupur, marked World Olympic Day with great enthusiasm and fanfare today. The event was organised to promote the Olympic spirit and values among students and staff.
Dr. P. Vijay Kumar, Controller of Examinations at the university, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering on the significance of the Olympic movement. Also present on the dais were Dr. Prativa Kar, Head of the Department of Basic Science and Humanities, and senior faculty member Prof. Suman Mishra.
To commemorate the day, a General Knowledge Quiz Competition on the Olympics was held. In the competition, Priyanka Sahu secured the first position, followed by Ashish Meher in second place and Subrat Kumar Majhi in third. All the winners were felicitated with certificates and medals by the dignitaries.
The programme was smoothly coordinated by NSS Programme Officer Bani Prasad Nayak and Sports Officer Rabindra Kumar Panda. The stage proceedings were managed by Prof. Ghanistha Prusti.
The celebration highlighted GIET University’s commitment to fostering a spirit of sportsmanship and holistic development among its students.
