Bhubaneswar : In a continued effort to promote the use of Hindi in official communication, East Coast Railway (ECoR) hosted a Zonal Rajbhasha Implementation Committee Meeting at its headquarters, Rail Sadan, Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar. The meeting aligns with the Government of India’s Official Language Policy, reaffirming ECoR’s commitment to integrating Hindi as a core component of administrative and operational practices.
Presiding over the session, Shri Parmeshwar Funkwal, General Manager, ECoR, emphasized the need to embed Hindi into daily official work such as e-files, e-office modules, and internal communications. He encouraged all staff to adopt Hindi proactively in notings, correspondence, and official documentation to enhance inclusivity and national linguistic pride.
“The consistent use of Hindi across our systems is not only a matter of policy but also a reflection of our cultural identity. We must lead by example in bringing Hindi into the mainstream of railway administration,” said Shri Funkwal.
To further facilitate Hindi adoption, the following measures were outlined during the meeting:
- Regular Language Inspections: Periodic inspections will be carried out at various stations and divisional units to monitor compliance and provide support for Hindi usage.
- Launch of Rajbhasha e-Patrika: A digital e-magazine dedicated to Hindi language promotion will be introduced. It will feature reference materials, creative writing contributions, and articles to foster interest and improve proficiency among railway employees.
The meeting was attended by Principal Heads of Departments, including Shri Alok Sahay, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, and the Mukhya Rajbhasha Adhikari. Their active participation reinforced the collective commitment to strengthening the Rajbhasha framework across East Coast Railway.
This strategic meeting marks a pivotal step in institutionalizing Hindi in official work across zones under East Coast Railway. With digital tools, continuous awareness, and leadership engagement, ECoR aims to set a benchmark for effective implementation of the Official Language Policy.
