Orange alert issued for 4 Odisha districts as low pressure system intensifies

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is expected to experience heavy rainfall for the next five days, with various parts of the state likely to be affected. A low-pressure area formed in the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjacent West Bengal and Bangladesh coasts yesterday is moving west-northwestwards towards north Odisha, West Bengal coast, and Jharkhand, bringing rain to coastal Odisha. According to the weather forecast, heavy rain is likely to occur in different parts of the state until July 5th under the influence of the low-pressure system. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning for heavy rain in four Odisha districts – Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, and Jharsuguda – today. Additionally, a yellow warning has been issued for 15 districts today, for heavy rain. The districts under the yellow warning zone are advised to be prepared for potential disruptions. The IMD has also warned of possible damage to thatched houses and homes in low-lying areas due to high wind speeds during the rainfall. People have been advised to exercise caution and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
