Wellington, 31/12 (AO Bureau): New Zealand star batsman Kane Williamson has become the No.1 batsman in Tests. The 30-year-old has surpassed Steve Smith and Virat Kohli to top the latest ICC Test Rankings of batsmen.
Williamson briefly occupied the top spot at the end of 2015, but Smith or Kohli remained at number one since then. This year too, Smith topped 313 days and Kohli for 51 days.
Kane Williamson has gained two places in the rankings released on Thursday. He achieved the feat of becoming the No. 1 batsman with 890 rating points. Virat Kohli is second with 879 points. Kohli is on paternity leave after playing the first Test of the current series against Australia.
