New Delhi, 31/12 (AO Bureau) : Reliance Jio is once again going to make voice calls absolutely free. Jio subscribers will be able to make free voice calls from their phones from 1 January 2021. Interconnect usage charge (IUC) on such services is over. Reliance Jio has given information about this on Thursday. The company issued a statement saying that the commitment to free off-net domestic calls will be respected. Domestic voice calls will be made free after the IUC charges are over. From 1 January 2021, all calls will be made free again. After this news about Jio, the share of other telecom company Bharti Airtel is falling by more than 2 percent.
Will not have to recharge to make a call
After this announcement, now Jio customers will not have to pay for making calls on any network from the new year. This facility will be for any area across the country. Currently, the IUC system allows customers to spend money for off-net voice calls.
Let me tell you that in September 2019, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) extended the IUC for mobile-to-mobile calls till the end of January 2020. After this, Jio started charging its customers for off-net voice calls. However, the charge charged by Jio Dvadara was equal to the IUC charge.
On-net domestic calls still free
The company also clarified that on-net domestic calls are still absolutely free on the Jio network. The company said, “Reliance Jio is committed to bring the benefits of advanced technology like VoLTE to the common Indian citizens.”
