New Delhi, 5/1 (AO Bureau): Amid the internal conflict in the Congress, the process of choosing the new President of the party has started. Meanwhile, sources are getting information from quoting that Rahul Gandhi has agreed to take over the responsibilities of the Congress president again. On Saturday, senior Congress leaders met for the new president’s post. In this, the interim president of Congress, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and the members and officials of the All India Congress Committee were present.
All the leaders present in the meeting which lasted for more than 5 hours at 10 Janpath, Sonia Gandhi’s residence, gave their views. In the meeting, the demand for taking over as President of Rahul Gandhi arose. In the end, Rahul Gandhi said that he is ready to fulfill the responsibility given by the party.
These members raised the demand
According to sources, in this meeting, K. Suresh, Abdul Khalik, Gaurav Gogoi, and some other MPs urged Rahul Gandhi to take over the reins of the party. Apart from these MPs, senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh also said that now Rahul Gandhi should lead the Congress again. In the recent Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had also raised this demand, which was supported by many leaders.
