Jammu Kashmir NIA court grants bail to Waheed Para in terrorism related case

Jammu,9/1 (AO Bureau) : Waheed Para, the chairman of the PDP’s youth unit, was granted bail on Saturday by a National Investigation Agency (NIA) court here. He was granted bail after being detained for a month and a half for Hizbul Mujahideen’s alleged links with terrorists.

Officials said that Para, who recently won the District Development Council (DDC) election from his hometown of Pulwama district in south Kashmir, was produced in an NIA court which granted him bail on a bail amount of Rs 1 lakh. He was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on 25 November last year. His arrest was a few days after he filed his nomination papers as a candidate for the Declaration Alliance (PAGD).

Accused of supporting Hizbul Mujahideen
The NIA had said that Para was arrested in the Navid Babu-Davinder Singh case for conspiring with other accused persons to support the Hizbul Mujahideen. The charge was denied by the PDP and the party termed his arrest as “politically motivated”.
