Chennai, 15/2 (AO Bureau): Chennai Test has come into India’s grasp thanks to the brilliant all-around performance of Ravichandran Ashwin. By the end of the third day’s play, the England team has scored 53 runs losing three wickets. Joe Root at the crease and Daniel Lawrence are playing 19 runs. There are still two days left for the game and England will have to score 429 more runs to win. On the other hand, India is just seven steps away from victory. For India, Axar Patel took two wickets while Ravichandran Ashwin took one wicket.
India’s first breakthrough was in the form of opener Dom Sibley who was out lbw to Axar Patel. After that Rory Burns and Danielle Lawrence have played some attractive shots. Both added 32 runs for the second wicket but Burns (25) caught Ravichandran Ashwin off captain Kohli. Number four, Jack Leach replaced England captain Joe Root as a night watchman. Leach was dismissed by Akshar Patel without opening the account on the first ball.
Ashwin hit a career-high 5th century
Earlier, thanks to Ashwin’s century, India scored 286 runs in their second innings and gave a difficult target of 482 runs to win the second Test match in front of England. Ashwin took the advantage of two lives to score 106 runs, which is his fifth Test century. He took five wickets in the first innings. In this way, he has done the third time for a century and five wickets in an innings. The highlight of India’s second innings was a 96-run partnership for the seventh wicket between Ashwin and captain Virat Kohli (62). From England, Moin Ali and Jack Leach took four wickets each. Cheteshwar Pujara was run out while Oli Stone got one wicket.
