Gujrat, 23/2 (AO Bureau): Gujarat Municipal Election Result has proved that the saffron party coin is still going on in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state. Congress, Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM, and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) failed to do much in the civic elections. However, the AAP has done well on the forehead of the Congress by performing better than expected in Surat. This result is going to be very encouraging for BJP for next year’s assembly elections. At the same time, these results have forced Congress to review.
Votes were cast on 21 February in a total of 576 seats in 6 metropolitan municipalities (Manpas), including Ahmedabad. BJP has got the majority in 5 out of 6 metropolitan municipalities i.e. Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Vadodara, Jamnagar, and Bhavnagar. In Surat, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has moved ahead of 18 seats to become the number two-party. It has pushed Congress to number three.
