New Delhi, 26/2 (AO Bureau): Assembly elections are due in the next two to three months in West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Union Territory of Puducherry, and Kerala. There will be a press conference of the Election Commission today at 4.30 pm, in which election programs are possible. At present, the Election Commission is meeting in the Election House on Ashoka Road. The Election Commission teams visited the electoral states to take stock of the situation there.

West Bengal: There are 294 assembly seats in this state. Presently, there is a Trinamool Congress government and Mamata Banerjee is the Chief Minister. In the last election, Mamta’s TMC won the highest 211 seats, Congress 44, 26 left, and BJP won only three seats. While others had won ten seats. It needs 148 seats for the majority.
Assam: There are 126 assembly seats in this state. The NDA government is presently here and Sarbananda Sonowal is the Chief Minister. In the last election, BJP contested 89 seats and won 60 seats. At the same time, the Assam Gana Parishad contested 14 seats and the Bodoland People’s Front won 12 by contesting 13 seats. In this election, Congress contested 122 seats and captured only 26 seats. Here 64 seats are needed for the majority.
Tamil Nadu: There are 234 assembly seats in this state. Currently, there is a government of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and I Palaniswami is the Chief Minister. In the last election, the AIADMK won 136 seats and the main opposition party DMK won 89 seats. Here 118 seats are needed for a majority.
Puducherry: There are a total of 30 assembly seats in the Union Territory of Puducherry. Presently President’s rule is in place here. A few days ago, the Congress-DMK coalition government fell here. In the last election, Congress contested 21 seats and won 15 seats. At the same time, the All India NR Congress contested 30 seats and won only eight seats. Seven seats in other’s accounts. Here 16 seats are needed for the majority.
Kerala: There are 140 assembly seats in this state. Currently, the CPI (M) -led Left Democratic Front (LDF) government is here and Pinarayi Vijayan is the chief minister. In the last election, the LDF got 91 seats and the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) got 47 seats. Here 71 seats are needed for the majority.
When is the term of assembly in which state ending?
The current term of the Bengal Legislative Assembly is on 30 May 2021. The current term of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly is ending on 31 May 2021, the current term of the Kerala Legislative Assembly on 1 June 2021, the current term of the Puducherry Assembly on 8 June and the current term of the Assam Legislative Assembly on 31 May.
