Chennai, 9/3 (AO Bureau): In Tamil Nadu (Tamil Nadu Assembly Election 2021), the AIADMK-BJP alliance has suffered a setback before the elections. Actor Vijayakanth-led DMDK pulled out of the alliance ahead of the state elections next month. The party claimed that after three rounds of talks, the AIADMK refused to give the seat as promised. Assembly elections will be held in Tamil Nadu in a single phase on 6 April and the results will come on 2 May.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress-led coalition won 38 of the 39 seats in the state. Last week, AIADMK allotted 20 seats out of 234 to its ally BJP, while 23 seats to another regional ally – PMK. Shortly after AIADMK released the list of six candidates, DMDK decided to leave the alliance.
