Chennai, 12/3 (AO Bureau): In Tamil Nadu, Makkal Nidhi Mayyam (MNM) has announced that party founder Kamal Hassan will contest from Coimbatore. Haasan will try his luck from Coimbatore South. Earlier, his party released the first list of 70 candidates for the assembly elections to be held in Tamil Nadu on April 6. The party has also given tickets to a former aide of former President late APJ Abdul Kalam.
Actor and leader Kamal Haasan’s party Makkal Needhi Mayyam (MNM) is going to contest elections along with two of its allies. The MNM will contest elections in 154 seats out of 234. The MNM has decided to contest elections along with Sartakumar’s All India Samtuwa Makhal Kachi and India Jan Nayak Kachi.
Performance in 2019 Lok Sabha elections
For the upcoming assembly elections, the Election Commission has given the ‘Torch’ election mark to Makkal Nidhi Mayyam Party. The party also contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections on the ‘flashlight’ symbol and received 3.77 percent of the votes. Kamal Haasan, the MNM chief, started his campaign in December and visited several areas of Tamil Nadu in the first phase of the campaign.
