Kerala , 16/3 (AO Bureau): PC Chacko, who was the leader of the Kerala Congress, will now join the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). However, no information has been revealed on what will be his responsibility in the new party. Let me tell you that on Wednesday, just before the assembly elections in Kerala, the Congress got a big shock when its senior leader PC Chacko announced to leave the party and alleged that factionalism was dominating in deciding the party’s candidates for the election. Within the last one year, after Jyotiraditya Scindia, Chacko is the second senior leader who has left the party. Chacko has been a member of the Congress Working Committee.
Chacko said that he has sent his resignation to Congress President Sonia Gandhi and former President Rahul Gandhi. Chacko also told that he had been thinking about leaving the party for many days. He claimed, ‘There is no democracy left in the Congress. There was no discussion with the State Congress Committee about the list of candidates.
He also alleged that the party’s candidates for the April 6 assembly elections in Kerala were selected by two groups in an undemocratic manner. In this, an ‘A’ group is led by Oommen Chandy and ‘I’ group is led by Ramesh Chennithala. Chacko said that both groups have been active since the time of late leader K Karunakaran and senior leader AK Antony. Antony used to lead the ‘A’ group and Karunakaran headed the ‘I’ group
